Introduction

The Messiah’s 1,000 year reign on earth happens after the Great Tribulation and the Rapture (the taking up of believers to meet Christ in the air); then Jesus returns to rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Rather than focussing on the preceding time of Tribulation (Revelation: Seals, Trumpets and Bowls etc) this document illuminates the Joy to be found in the 1,000 year reign when Jesus alluded to in a parable:

“Well done, good and faithful servant;
You were faithful over a few things,
I will make you ruler over many things.
Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Mat 25:21)

This document commences at the point when Jesus returns with His ‘Raptured’ (incorruptible and immortal) Saints to establish His 1,000-year reign on earth. (The timing of the resurrected/raptured in Christ and the Seals, Trumpets and Bowls of Revelation are not included because they happen before the 1,000 Year Reign of the Messiah on earth)

The events in the 1,000 year reign are derived from taking more of a literal, rather than allegorical, understanding of scriptures. As such, it does not interpret ‘Israel’ as a ‘spiritual’ Israel (ie the Church) but as descendants of Abraham in the Promised Land unless the context indicates otherwise.

Abrahamic Covenants

Covenant commitments made to Abraham refer to Israel living in their land, which is distinct from the Gentile Nations. Israel will see these Covenants fulfilled as written, just as the many other prophecies that have already been fulfilled with Israel.

Abraham’s Covenant made by Yahweh – Gen 17:4
4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you,
and you shall be a father of many nations.
5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham;
for I have made you a father of many nations.
6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful;
and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you
and your descendants after you in their generations,
for an everlasting covenant,
to be God to you and your descendants after you.
8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you
the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan,
as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” (Gen 17:4-8)

Other scriptures that refer to Gentile believers ie Kings, Nations, Peoples, Tribes and Tongues, will also be fulfilled as written. Eventually the two will become One New Man in Christ (Eph 2:15) when the Messiah delivers the Kingdom to the Father at the end of the 1,000 years.

The New Covenant

Contrary to some expectations, the New Covenant, mediated by Jesus, is made with the House of Israel and the House of Judah (Heb 8). The Gentiles are grafted into this covenant:

Eph 2:12 At that time you (Gentiles) were without Christ,
being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel
and strangers from the covenants of promise

Rom 11:16-24
16 For if the first-fruit is holy, the lump is also holy; – (Abraham/Israel)
and if the root is holy, (God’s Covenants)
so are the branches. (Israel)
17 And if some of the branches were broken off, (Scattered Israel)
and you, being a wild olive tree, (Gentile believers)
were grafted in among them, (Israel)
and with them became a partaker
of the root and fatness of the olive tree, (God’s Covenants with Israel)
18 do not boast against the branches, (Israel)
but if you do boast,
remember that you do not support the root, (God’s Covenants)
but the root supports you. (Gentiles)
…..
24 For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, (Gentiles)
and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, (God’s Covenants with Israel)
how much more will these, who are natural branches, (Scattered Israel)
be grafted into their own olive tree? (God’s Covenants with Israel)

The 1,000 year reign

The 1,000 year reign of the Messiah (Jesus) starts after He has bound and imprisoned Satan to stop him from deceiving the world.

Jesus, the Son of David:

  1. returns as King
  2. restores Israel
  3. in their Promised Land
  4. and rules with the Torah/Law

as detailed the New Covenant prophecies (Jer 30 & 31 & Hebrews 8).

The Messiah governs with perfect Justice and Righteousness in Israel, which results in the descendants of Abraham, as well as the land, become exceedingly fruitful. Peace and Prosperity abound, as promised.

The Nations see this, and over the remainder of the 1,000 years, agree to accept Yahweh as their God and to walk in His ways. Those that do, have Peace and Prosper, those that refuse, do not.

This period of 1,000 years is the written history of:

  1. those ‘in Christ’, ruling with Him,
  2. preparing the whole world to be delivered to the Father
as a pure and spotless bride without blemish.
  3. God Almighty and the Lamb then live with ‘One New Man’
  4. on a renewed Earth
  5. forever and ever.

This is the ultimate fulfilment of ‘Emmanuel’, God with us.
