Articles are primarily derived by first taking a literal understanding of scriptures, where practical. For example, ‘Israel’ is not initially interpreted as ‘Spiritual Israel’ (ie the Church) unless the biblical context justifies that.
It is to be recognised that the word Israel takes on different understandings, determined by location, context, timeframe etc. Israel – Son of Isaac called Jacob Children of Israel – the 12 sons of Jacob – Gen 46:8 Children of Israel – the many descendants of Israel, living in Egypt – Exo 1:9 Children of Israel – God’s People – Exo 3:10The New Covenant Contrary to some expectations, the New Covenant, mediated by Jesus, is made with the House of Israel and the House of Judah (Heb 8). The Gentiles are grafted into this covenant:
The New King James Version scriptures are used because I believe it to be nearer to a Word for Word translation than Paraphrase versions. There are other translations that could have been used eg NSAB, ESV which while different, I am not aware of any theological differences that would arise. It’s more a matter of terminology. eg NKJV talks about ‘regeneration’ and NIV uses ‘renewal’.
