The Temple of God is concept that runs across Millenia. It changes in nature and function but it will be a House of Prayer for all nations because that has been prophesied. Isa 56:1-8
The fulfilment of this will be seen in the Ezekiel Temple. Zec 8:20-23 Zec 14:16-19
Solomon dedicated the Temple and God consecrated it for prayer
Consecration is the act of setting something apart for God but from then on, it belongs to God. Exo 13:2
Both God and people can consecrate something and sometimes God makes allowance for it to be redeemed. It then is no longer ‘Holy’ and reverts to being ‘Common’. Lev 27:14-15
Solomon praises God for the Temple He had promised his father King David and that Solomon had built. He then prayed asking that it would be a place for His people to pray to and hear from God. But not only for Israel but for all peoples of the earth who know His name and fear Him. 2Ch 6:21-40
God’s glory filled the Temple with His glory. 2Ch 7:1
God sanctifies the Temple that Solomon built for Him and dedicates it for Prayer. 2Ch 7:12-14
He promises to always help them when they truly turn to Him.
He promises that His Name will be in that place forever. 2Ch 7:15-16
Yahweh also warns Solomon that He will remove the Temple from His sight if Israel goes off and worship other gods. 2Ch 7:19-20
Israel defiled Solomon’s Temple and God removed His Presence
After about 370 years and 20 other Kings, the leaders of Israel badly defile the Temple. This was the place God had declared Holy for Him and Him alone and where He had placed His Name. 2Ch 36:14
A place where He would answer their prayers when they needed help. The temple was so badly defiled with pagan idols that God’s presence left and has yet to return. Eze 8:6
Prophetic Fulfilment of the Temple being a House of Prayer for all Nations
It looks like Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem was consecrated by God and that still stands throughout time, regardless of their being a physical building or not. Yahweh said that He would remove the Temple from Israel’s sight (not destroy it). In other words, there was no longer a place of prayer in Jerusalem until He arranged for Cyrus to commission the building of the second temple.
This is became the same Temple that Jesus declared a “Den of Thieves”.
The Ezekiel Temple in the 1,000 year reign will be another fulfilment of the Temple with the return of the presence of Yahweh. This time it will be a House of Prayer for all Nations.
The final fulfilment will be the new Heaven and New earth where God and the Lamb are the temple.
